I first got interested in Angora goats in 1994. I was looking for a way to improve our pastures and make the farm more productive. I purchased 3 yearling nannies in 1995. Today, there are 51 goats out on pasture. I decided to try llamas for predator protection. First one came in 1997 and now we have 7 llamas, including our first youngster born last August. They have been very effective. I have seen them in action against a lone coyote and one blood hound who mistakenly thought it would be fun to chase goats. And, llamas also have nice fiber. I joined the Mercer County Spinners & Weavers Guild in 1994. I have been president for many years. It is wonderful to be with such a talented, creative group of fiber junkies. I worked for Sigrid Piroch in her Allegheny River Textile Studio (ARTS) for about 10 years. That was just a wonderful opportunity to learn about weaving and to experience a wide variety of techniques and textiles. Today, I work in my own studio. Balancing farm work, fiber, and family is my full time occupation. Computers and photography are new for me and I have much to learn. Please be patient with me as I get this figured out. Thank you.
